December 2018 Leaf Updates

UPDATE: Ann Arbor has extended leaf drop off until Dec 21st. This gives us a little breathing room for disposing leaves. I have places to dispose leaves once that ends, but the city extending the deadline makes things easier.

If you are a current leaf customer: The good news is most of the leaves have come down, and come down early. Which is a nice change of pace from the recent seasons where they held on into December. We are working hard at doing cleanups and getting to everyone as soon as possible. However, we have had delays because of the rain and snow recently. We are at this time at least 2 weeks behind where we should be because of the weather delays. The weather going forward into December looks pretty good, and very workable, for the next 3 weeks. I expect to be able to ramp things up into over drive to get everything finished these next few weeks. We will keep working as late as we can into the fall to get everything done, weather permitting.

The bad news is, most of the leaves have come down, and come down early. So (understandably) everyone wants their work done NOW. Normally we split the cleanups in 2 rounds, and it takes us 4 to 8 weeks to get all the leaves done for those rounds. It's nice that most of the leaves are down, but we cannot do 6 weeks all at once, and the weather delays are not helping. We missed at least half of November with weather delays from rain and snow, and frozen snow and ice sitting on top of leaves preventing us from getting things done. Additionally, the spotty nature of the snow covering has thrown any kind of schedule I may have had out the window. Missing that much time is unprecedented, and not something that can be easily made up when every day counts in the fall. It's going to take us a bit to get through everyone's cleanup.

Please be patient, we are working quickly to get around to everyone as fast as possible. I have not forgotten anyone, I know exactly all of the customers we have to do and my crews and I are working diligently to get it all finished. We even worked Thanksgiving day this year doing leaves, for the first time ever.

If you are emailing regarding an estimate for leaf services: We are giving estimates for both cleanup and leaf removal:

  1. Leaf cleanup: We are at least 3 weeks out on being able to get to any new work coming in now. That means if you get on the schedule now, it will be at least 3 weeks before we can get to you to cleanup and remove your leaves. It's a very busy time of year for us, and the snow and rain has delayed us a lot this fall. As you can see from above, the weather has delayed us a lot this year and we are backed up. We have to complete the current workload we have before taking on any additional cleanups. We will work as late as possible into December to get everything done, weather permitting.
  2. Curbside Leaf Removal: We have availability, and generally we take 2 to 4 days to get to you once you put the leaves are out at curb side.

If you requested an estimate, we will get back to you as soon as possible with pricing.

We are all booked up on snow clearing at this time.

Thank you!!
